About the course
The Chef Training programme provides in-depth theory and practical training in professional cookery.
The programme uses Hospitality Standards Institute resources. Practical skills are introduced in our own kitchen and developed through further experience in a working commercial kitchen.
All training is NZQA unit standard based and students complete the National Certificate in Hospitality (Cookery) Level 3. This is a polytechnic level course.
Students also complete a Workplace First Aid Certificate and the essential Safe Food Handling unit standard.
Skilled professional chefs are in high demand and most students who successfully complete this course find employment with no difficulty.
Learners are able to apply for student allowances or students loans for living costs.
Most students begin in February, but we will take enquiries at any time.
